A passion for football meets the enthusiasm of a design engineer

When Franz-Karl Aicher stood face-to-face with Lucio, the Bayern Munich football star, in the Allianz Arena in Munich after a game in the German first division, he wasn't only thinking about the superb game he'd just seen together with a few friends but also about the W12 car engine. After all, as every football fan knows, Lucio drives an Audi A8, and an Audi A8 has a W12 engine. As it happens Aicher Präzisionstechnik (Precision Technology) was closely involved in the design of this engine.

Franz-Karl Aicher had been time and time again in Wolfsburg where he and the customer's design engineers came up with an inspired and cost-effective solution. And the engineers from VW and Audi had visited him just as often in Königsheim.

VWs, Audis and Bentleys throughout the world now drive with the W8 or W12 engine.

That's why instead of asking Lucio for his autograph he asked, „Are you satisfied with your car?“

„It's fabulous!“ said Lucio. „And what an engine!“
„We participated in the engine development!“
„Well, you certainly have my thanks for that!“

„No problem!“
